A temporary increase in the number of (sub-)contractors leads to a need for extra support in terms of health and safety. How did we satisfy this demand?
Antwerp refinery expanded with a Delayed Coker Unit (DCU), to keep meeting the increasing energy demand, between 2015 and 2018. The project resulted in an enormous influx of additional (sub-)contractors on site, which meant the ANWERUP team needed more support in terms of health and safety.
Our duties included the management of medical equipment, medication, consumer goods, trained personnel with emergency doctors and nurses, standard working methods and 24/7 personnel planning.
Around 1000 external contractors, employed in this high-risk environment, were able to rely on the best first aid, emergency help and general healthcare over the full 4-year project. Together with the ANWERUP EHS team, we took care of the increased workload.
