Are you thinking about investing in solar panels or a solar water heater? 'Zonnekaart Vlaanderen' tells you if your roof is suited for that. The application is based on open data. Its main purpose is to educate and inform about renewable energy. We proudly acted as a partner! How did we proceed?

Let's define our role:

1. ensuring good communication as an intermediary.

AUSY Solutions, our internal project department, acted as an intermediary between the different parties that were involved in developing the application. Good communication is crucial if you want to create a successful product!

2. api provides all the necessary information.

We also supplied the application infrastructure. What does that mean? A lot of different departments provided data for the 'Zonnekaart'. Moreover, the Flemish Energy Agency held a database with data on, amongst others, installers and energy distributors.

So a lot of information comes together in 1 application. We created an API: a centralized system where a large part of that information can be stored. Drupal 8 allows the agency to manage all the data in the backend easily.

3. media attention: monitoring application and keeping it online.

When the 'Zonnekaart' was launched, it got a lot of media attention. The high amount of visitors presented some challenges. But we succeeded in facing these challenges thanks to our rapid response!

We monitored the application together with the different departments. We made the resources grow gradually to make sure that the application could stay online, despite the many visitors.

Extra attention for 'zonnekaart' thanks to e-gov award.

Every year, digital projects of public authorities that facilitate the life of citizens and entrepreneurs have a shot at winning an Agoria e-Gov Award.

In December 2017, the 'Zonnekaart' won the award for the use of open data! Moreover, the application got nominated for its user-friendliness.

Our colleagues got invited to the office of the minister. We celebrated the good news, together with the Flemish Energy Agency, Informatie Vlaanderen, VITO and GIM.
